Chester & North Wales Coin and Banknote Society
|
Society information The background The Chester and North Wales Coin and Banknote
Society was formed in 1996 as a successor to the Merseyside and Chester
numismatics’ societies. Membership is drawn from across Cheshire, Merseyside,
Wirral and North Wales. There is no annual subscription but those attending
meetings are asked for a small contribution to cover the cost of the room hire.
The society meets on a
regular basis throughout the year. We present a wide variety of talks and
lectures focusing on coins and banknotes, many of these are also of historical
and archaeological interest. Quizzes and occasional visits are also arranged. We
aim to present at least one special guest lecture a year by an acknowledged
expert, often the curator from a museum such as the British Museum. We are a
friendly society and there is always plenty of discussion and conversation both
before and after the formal part of the meeting. The venue The society meets at the Liver Hotel, Brook
Street, Chester which provides a pleasant and private back room for the
meetings. A good range of liquid refreshment is available over the bar. The Liver Hotel is about two minutes walk
from Chester railway station (upon leaving the station turn right and follow
the road round past the Post Office club, the Liver Hotel is the first pub on
the left after the bend in the road). For those traveling by car there is
ample parking near to the pub. Meetings commence at 8 pm on the fourth
Tuesday of the month, except for August (no meeting) and December (when we meet
on the second Tuesday). For more information please contact: Jonathan Morris, Chester and North Wales Coin and Banknote Society, 3 Queen Street, Bunbury, Near Tarporley, Cheshire CW6 9QY. Click here to return to the B.A.N.S. home page.
